VEX Robotics Design (by VEX)

 

 

VEX Robotics Design is a robotic kit to introduce students as well as adults to the world of robotics.

 

Facts and Features: VEX robotics kit comes with motors, wheels, gears, and other structural parts. VEX allows for up to 8 motors and 16 sensors and programming software for three different levels. VEX has three different programming packages: easyC, RobotC and MPLAB. easyC provides a graphical interface that is perfect for beginners, while MPLAB is perfect for more experienced programmers.

 

Kit comes in multiple versions - Classroom and Competition Mechatronics Kit, Classroom and Competition Programming Kit, and Classroom and Competition Super Kit. The kits differ primarily in terms of motors and sensors that come along.Students intrested in working on Robotics for colleges projects can also use this kit.

TETRIX (by Pitsco)

 

 

TETRIX is a robot metal building system designed to work with the LEGO® MINDSTORMS NXT brick through the use of the Hard Point Connector.

 

Facts and Features: Tetrix kit comes with hard point connector, HiTechnic DC Motor Controller, HiTechnic Servo Controller, Battery, and building system. Like MINDSTOEMS NXT kit, Tetrix also comes as base kit, and additional resource kit to make more versatile models.

 

TETRIX Robotics consists of two robotic kits, The sets are TETRIX MAX for high school and TETRIX PRIME for middle school.

 

TETRIX MAX can interface with the Lego Mindstorms NXT kit to allow the NXT intelligent brick to control TETRIX motors and servos.[2] TETRIX PRIME was developed for middle school use but can also be used with TETRIX MAX components. The systems can also be used with R/C controllers or a variety or programmable options such as myRIO and Arduino.

This kit works well with the Learning 3D printing and prototyping as students would be requiring chassies along with the electronics (Incrediminds Robotics Kit) to build the the projects/prototype. BIOLOID (by ROBOTIS)

 

The ROBOTIS BIOLOID is a hobbyist and educational robot kit produced by the Korean robot manufacturer ROBOTIS.

 

Facts and Features: The BIOLOID platform consists of components and small, modular servomechanisms which can be used to construct robots of various configurations, such as wheeled, legged, or humanoid robots. Boiloid is made up of three basic components: the CM-5 central controller, the AX-S1 sensor module for feedback and the special modular robot servo motor.

 

How to program your robot?

 

The Robot is programmed with RoboPlus - C language based software solution. The Bioloid system is thus comparable to the LEGO Mindstorms and VEXplorer kits. RoboPlus is a Graphical User Interface (GUI), C language-based, and easy-to-use programming software to develop the robotic programs. User need not be mater of programming language, as it is a GUI based software.

Suggestion: Very good kit for advanced users. This platform is currently in use by the U.S. Naval Academy in their Mechanical Engineering courses. Expensive than MINDSTORMS and VEX.
